Support the Garden and join us for our festive yearly tradition of wreath making! Sign up for an in-person workshop or take home a DIY-kit. Both include enough evergreens to freshen up any door or holiday table, dried plants, a wire form, and plenty of wire to pull it all together. Hand pruners, shears, and needle nose pliers are needed to complete the kit. We’ll take you through all the steps of assembly, from cutting, to breaking things down, to fastening greenery to your wreath. Our kits feature a diverse assortment of evergreen that includes yew, fir, spruce, pine, and arbor vitae. Expect plenty of information whether online or in-person.
These workshops ($45) and DIY kits ($40) are an excellent value and include the lingering evergreen scent. The workshop is fantastic if you’re looking to make a home run gift for a loved one or simply to slow down for an hour or two. Create without the mess in DC Smith Greenhouse. Alternatively, kits are ideal for a family project, kids included, or with 2 or 3 or more kits, gather your friends for a creative evening. Either way you decide to support the Garden, we’re confident you’ll enjoy this opportunity.
Our wreath workshops and kits help Allen Centennial Garden serve our community. The Garden receives neither tuition nor tax dollars, but instead is supported by our endowment, donations, The Friends of Allen Centennial, and events like wreath making. Our wreath makers get to experience and handle plants. We hope this is fun and maybe it helps participants better appreciate plants and the places they inhabit. Furthermore, funds raised during wreath making lets us create similar opportunities for students and community members year round. We think that’s pretty cool.
